Projects in Boulder City
Projects in Design:
Circuit 63-64 Tie and Circuit 45-61-62 Tie
These projects to upgrade the Circuit Ties will provide more system reliability and circuit switch ability.
City Hall ADA Access Improvements
ADA access improvement will include sidewalk replacements, street lights and appurtenances, traffic control measures on California Avenue, and removal and reconstruction of the parking lot and associated facilities adjacent to City Hall to provide an ADA compliant accessible site and improved facilities.
Avenue G Storm Drain Improvements
This project is the design and construction of storm drain improvements from Highland Drive to Avenue G near the Boulder City High School. The project includes replacement of existing 36”- 60” storm drain with 78” storm drain and new 66” storm drain from Avenue I to Avenue G via Seventh Street to collect and convey run off from the areas to the Georgia Avenue concrete channel.
Wells Drive Levee Lining
This project is the design and construction of riprap lining of the existing levee on the north end of Wells Road that runs west from Canyon Road to the sediment/detention basin at the head of the Yucca Channel. This levee lining project will provide additional protection for the properties and infrastructure to the south.
East Airport Channel Maintenance
Continuing flood control channel maintenance is important to reduce the risk of flooding and protect nearby homes and infrastructure during heavy rain events. Advantage Civil Design Group is working on completing plans and preparing a cost estimate for the East Airport Channel Maintenance project which will be funded by the Regional Flood Control District.
Pavement Preservation Program Update
Our consultant GCW has completed updating the pavement rating for our Pavement Preservation Program. This information will shape our upcoming pavement maintenance activities. GCW is working on completing the update to the program and preparing their scope of work and fee for design services for the 2025 program.
Projects in Construction:
Fire Department Training Facility and Storage Building
The training tower is a two-story, training tower with two separate burn rooms. The tower will be surrounded by a driving path and have several small concrete pads with training props for hazardous materials, aircraft fires, solar panel fires, and technical rescue. There will also be a closed water pit on site for conducting fire engine pump tests as required annually. The building is selected to allow us to train on the variety of structures typically found in Boulder City. The training grounds will also be fenced to eliminate others from inadvertently getting hurt on the property. The training structure is known as the Hall Crawler.
Water Filtration Plant Asbestos & Lead Abatement
As part of the Fiscal Year 2022 budget, City Council approved the use of RDA funds to rehabilitate the Historic Water Filtration Plant. The City was also able to obtain a grant from the State of Nevada, Commission for Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation (CCCHP). Funding from the RDA and the CCCHP will be used for the Boulder City Water Filtration Plant Asbestos and Lead Abatement project. Work for the project will include removal and proper disposal of asbestos containing materials and lead based paint removal and encapsulation in the historic water filtration plant.
Water Service Replacements (Various)
This project identifies and replaces plastic pipe laterals with a more durable copper lateral from the water main to the water meter. This project helps reduce leaks and overall line loss in the system, and ensures a more reliable service to our customers.
Bristlecone and Clubhouse Trail
The contractor American Pavement Preservation has completed patchwork along the Bristlecone and Clubhouse trails. Crack seal and slurry seal is scheduled to begin at the end of October 2025.
Municipal Golf Course Irrigation Meters
This project is to remove and replace two 10-inch water meters at the Municipal Golf Courses. The existing meter vaults and backflows will be removed, and a new above-grade installation will be done for each meter.
City Maintenance Yard Expansion
This project consists of the design and renovation of existing structures and expansion of the maintenance yard facilities. Elements of the project will include grading, utility work, driveway entry, perimeter wall, updated gate facilities, wash down bays, on-site curbing, material bins, drainage, curbing and cross gutter, and surface treatment.
Municipal Golf Couse Turf Reduction
The irrigation system at the Boulder City Municipal Golf Course is 50 years old and inefficient. The state of the current system, along with new restrictions by the Southern Nevada Water Authority, have caused the City to need a complete redesign and replacement of the existing system.
Pavement Preservation FY2024 Phase 2 (Slurry Seal)
Improvement associated with the Pavement Preservation Program include crack seal, fog seal, slurry seal, and roadway evaluation. Phase 1 of the program for crack seal was completed July 2024, and Phase 2 will consist of slurry sealing the previously crack sealed areas.
