Background
Every year in May, various organizations and municipalities across the country celebrate Preservation Month through events that promote historic places and heritage tourism, and that demonstrate the social and economic benefits of historic preservation. Preservation Month began as National Preservation Week in 1973 and in 2005, the National Trust for Historic Preservation extended the celebration to the entire month of May and declared it Preservation Month.
During Preservation Month, Boulder City’s Historic Preservation Commission and City Council bestows a Historic Preservation Award that recognizes and honors outstanding projects involving the preservation, rehabilitation, and enhancement of Boulder City’s historic buildings and neighborhoods.
