Historic Preservation Ordinance Ad Hoc
Promote Historic Resources, Strategy 4: Amend existing codes to achieve historic preservation goals is contained in the 2025 Boulder City Strategic Plan.
The Historic Preservation Committee passed a motion on August 26, 2020 seeking City Council approval to create an Ad hoc Committee to recommend changes to the City Code, Title 11, Chapter 27 Historic Resources.
On October 13, 2020, the City Council approved Resolution No. 7167 which established the Boulder City Historic Preservation Ordinance Ad hoc Committee.
Purpose: The purpose of the Committee is to evaluate possible changes to the City Code, Title 11, Chapter 27 Historic Resources and advise the City Council.
Members and Term: The City Council shall appoint four members to the Committee as follows:
- The Committee will include two members of the Historic Preservation Committee.
- The Committee will also include two members of the City Council.
- The Committee's duties will conclude, and the Committee will be dissolved on December 31, 2021 or when recommendations by the City Council have been accepted.
Boulder City is seeking input from the community on proposed changes to the City’s historic preservation ordinance. The proposed draft ordinance would require property owners within the district to receive approval from the City for structural changes and/or building demolition based on updated design guidelines and the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
