Background: Since 2011, the Boulder City Historic Preservation Commission and City Council have granted an annual Historic Preservation Award (a plaque and certificate) to recognize the hard work of our local citizens in their efforts to maintain and enhance the architectural, historical, and cultural heritage of Boulder City. The Commission will select an awardee in April. The award recipient will be recognized on the City’s webpage and social media accounts during Preservation Month in May of each year.
Is your restoration project a winner? Have you seen a preservation project you think is award-worthy? We invite you to nominate projects you believe are most deserving of this honor!
How to Nominate a Project or Property
The Historic Preservation Commission recognizes preservation efforts that maintain and/or enhance the the architectural, historical, and cultural heritage of Boulder City.
To qualify for the award, the property must meet the following criteria:
- Be located within the Boulder City Historic District.
- Improvements are on the exterior of the building/property readily visible from the public street
- Be any of the following types of buildings or features: residential, commercial, institutional, religious, parks, landscapes, streetscapes, etc.
- Be a historically appropriate remodel, addition, or new construction, or an excellent example of preservation or restoration.
*Please be advised The Historic Preservation Commission will consider factors such as whether the building or feature:
- Is historically significant.
- Promotes the long-term preservation of the building, property, neighborhood, or business district.
- Was sensitively preserved, rehabilitated, or restored in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and its Guidelines for Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring, and Reconstructing Buildings.
Requirements for nominations:
- Property address, or name of current business/church/institution.
- Any property can be nominated by any person.
- Although not required, photo submissions (especially BEFORE & AFTER photos if applicable) will be of assistance to the Commission.
Nominations can be submitted:
- Online
- By mail to the Community Development Department, City Hall, 401 California Avenue, Boulder City, NV 89005.
Deadline for submittals:
- All nominations must be submitted by Sunday, March 15, 2026. Nominations open on January 15, 2025.

Prior Award Recipients
The Boulder City Historic Preservation Commission has been recognizing the hard work of our local citizens in their efforts to restore and improve the appearance of local historic properties since 2011. There have been many impressive preservation projects, from small residential improvements to large rehabilitation efforts. Past projects have shown how historic buildings can be preserved and restored to be incredible places to live, work, and play!
